How to Play Berlin no Kabe
Quick start
Press 1 on the title screen to begin. Enter normal play and study the platforms and ladders. Find room ahead of an approaching enemy and press 1 three times to open a hole. Once it is trapped, press 1 to knock it down. Watch the falling star before digging your next trap.
Controls
Left/Right: move on floors. Up/Down: climb ladders. Button 1: swing the hammer to dig; three swings open a hole. Use 1 on a trapped enemy to knock it down. Button 2: fill an empty hole. You can drop into holes from a floor, but not directly from a ladder. On Master System, console PAUSE replaces Game Gear START; 1 also starts at the title.
Berlin no Kabe — About this game
This GG2SMS edition adapts Berlin no Kabe for Sega Master System hardware and moves the original START function to the console PAUSE button. Berlin no Kabe is a single-screen action puzzle game about changing the floor beneath your enemies. Swing the hammer three times to open a hole, lure a monster into it, then strike again to send it down. A defeated monster becomes a star and leaves a helpful item; the falling star can also defeat other enemies it touches. Some layouts depend on that chain reaction, so the best trap is not always the nearest one. Ladders connect the platforms, and holes also provide routes for dropping to lower floors. The second button fills an empty hole, letting you repair the battlefield as well as break it.
