EmulatorJS player help
How to start games, configure controls, use saves and troubleshoot the EmulatorJS 4.3.0-pre browser player.
The player loads only after you choose Play now. Games run inside an isolated player frame, while controls and save tools remain available from the game page.
Player engines and versions
- EmulatorJS
- Most supported console and arcade editions use the official EmulatorJS 4.3.0-pre pre-release runtime with a platform-specific libretro core.
- WebMSX
- MSX and MSX2 editions use WebMSX 6.0.8 with the appropriate machine profile.
Version reference: EmulatorJS 4.3.0-pre release
Start a game
Open a playable game page and start the player only when you are ready. Large disc-based editions can take longer to load than cartridge games.
- Select the edition and check its in-game language.
- Choose Play now and wait for the player status to finish loading.
- Use fullscreen if needed, then follow the game-specific quick start and controls below the player.
Keyboard, gamepad and touch controls
The game page shows the default Player 1 keyboard mapping. Open Controller Settings to remap a keyboard or connected gamepad. Mobile browsers receive on-screen touch controls; MSX games use the WebMSX controls menu.
Save states and local storage
The save manager provides six browser save-state slots for EmulatorJS games. Saves, battery data and player settings remain in this browser and do not sync between devices. Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove them.
Pause, fast forward, cheats and fullscreen
The page controls call the player’s native tools after the game starts. Pause, resume, fast forward, save manager, controller settings and fullscreen are available where supported. The cheats button opens the native menu; codes are never enabled automatically.
Troubleshooting
If a game does not start, try the checks below before reporting the page.
- End the current player session and choose Play now again.
- Interact with the page once and check that the browser has not muted the tab or blocked audio.
- Try another published edition when the selected regional or revision-specific resource is unavailable.
- Allow site storage if save states or controller settings do not persist.
- For a report, include the page URL, edition, browser version, device and the step where loading stopped.
Player privacy
The player frame uses the selected game resource and emulator files only after you start it. Browser saves stay on the device. External emulator, image or other resources receive normal network request information as described in the privacy notice.
