How to Play The Legend of Kage
Quick start
Press START at the title screen, choose a one- or two-player game with SELECT, then press START again. Run with Left or Right; press Up for Kage’s high jump and use Up or Down to climb or descend trees and pillars. At close range, use A to slash enemies and deflect their shuriken. Use B for your own ranged shuriken. In the opening forest, keep moving vertically and defeat the red Yojubo to open the way out. The tunnel ends after ten blue ninja are defeated, the castle-wall scene requires reaching the top, and the castle interior leads to Princess Kiri. Collect scrolls and crystal balls when they appear, and be ready for the chapter boss after the rescue.
Controls
D-pad Left/Right: run in either direction. Up: jump; climb trees or pillars. Down: lie low; descend trees or pillars. A: swing the blade to cut enemies and deflect enemy shuriken. B: throw a shuriken. SELECT: choose one-player or two-player mode on the selection screen. START: move from the title to the selection screen, begin the chosen mode, and pause or resume during play.
The Legend of Kage — About this game
The Legend of Kage is a fast-moving NES action game about the Iga ninja Kage and his attempt to rescue Princess Kiri from a supernatural army. The journey begins in a forest where huge leaps and tree climbing help Kage survive waves of blue and red ninja and defeat the red Yojubo who blocks the exit. A tunnel stage requires ten blue ninja to be defeated across land and water, the castle wall must be scaled to its highest tier, and the interior leads toward the captive princess. Kage’s blade cuts nearby foes and deflects incoming shuriken, while his own shuriken attacks at range. Each seasonal chapter ends with a different leader after the rescue attempt.
