How to Play 1942
Quick start
Choose a one-player game and a difficulty, then begin the first sortie. Move away from incoming aircraft while firing with B. Use A for an evasive roll when a collision is imminent, and collect safe POW drops. Write down the password offered during progress to return later.
Controls
D-pad: move the aircraft. B: fire the machine gun. A: perform an evasive roll while rolls remain. START: start or pause play. Watch the remaining-roll indicator before using A; a roll gives brief protection rather than destroying every enemy.
1942 — About this game
1942 on Game Boy Color is a vertically scrolling air-combat game in which you guide a fighter through enemy formations and incoming fire. Collect POW items to change your firepower or gain support, and save your limited evasive rolls for situations where movement alone will not clear a path.
The handheld conversion has 32 stages, three difficulty settings, unlimited continues and passwords for resuming progress. Two players can take turns on one system. Learn where large aircraft enter the screen, leave room to dodge and keep firing while you work toward the next carrier landing.
