How to Play A Ressha de Ikō
Quick start
First, move the A train north for a short distance to see how it feels to lay the tracks in the vacant land. The initial material is 250 tons, and 10 tons are used for each section of track, so don't rush straight west to connect to a nearby station or freight train. During the day, the A train is used to build the system, and at night, the turnouts and stop times at each station are set to send the next morning's train to a safe route. The connection is made by proceeding to the existing line and then returning once to join both sides. Transport materials westward while securing passenger income, and once the track reaches the opposite end, reconfirm the presidential train's route at all branches.
Controls
Use the cross button to move the A train up, down, left, or right, and use Direction + A to move diagonally. Scroll the display range with Direction + A + B. Pause with LEFT+A+B, switch between laying/deleting tracks with A+B+SELECT, and save with A+B+START. A + START for station construction, A + SELECT for station removal, START for management information, daytime SELECT for help. At night, use SELECT to set the stop times for turnouts and stations, and use B to stop the automatically running train at the turnoff.
A Ressha de Ikō — About this game
The Famicom version of ``Let's Take the A Train'' is a real-time simulation centered on railway construction, unlike the free city management type of later years. The player is entrusted with running a railway company by the president of country A, consuming materials to prepare tracks and stations, and connecting routes from the east coast to the west coast while resupplying them with freight trains. If you increase the number of stations and run passenger trains, houses will be built in the surrounding area, and income and the town will grow. In the end, if the presidential train carrying the American flag traverses the entire route without any accidents, the map will be achieved.
