How to Play Aladdin
Quick start
Press Start and learn the unusual NES layout immediately: B jumps and A throws an apple. Hold left or right to build running speed for longer jumps. Conserve apples for bats, scorpions, and guards positioned near pits; a stunned large guard can be defeated by jumping on him. Press up while hanging to climb and down to duck under attacks. Watch moving platforms for a full cycle before committing, and record each stage password so a lost run does not send you back to Agrabah.
Controls
The D-pad moves Aladdin; hold left/right to run faster, press down to duck, and press up while hanging to climb. A throws an apple. B jumps. Start pauses during play and confirms menu choices. Select has no gameplay function. Unlike the Genesis version, this NES release does not give Aladdin a sword, so combat relies on apples and jumping on enemies.
Aladdin — About this game
The licensed NES version of Disney's Aladdin was developed by NMS Software from Virgin's platform game and follows scenes from Agrabah to the Cave of Wonders and Jafar's palace. This version has no sword: apples stun or defeat enemies, while jumping on larger foes finishes them. Aladdin can run, duck, hang from ropes and ledges, and use moving scenery to cross hazards. Limited apple ammunition, passwords, collectible gems, and set-piece stages such as the magic-carpet escape reward deliberate movement rather than rushing blindly.
