How to Play Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
Quick start
Begin a new game and follow the forest path away from the starting gate. Stand near the first ammunition icons and press B to collect them. When the radio indicator flashes, use A to answer; select the radio in the inventory if another item is equipped. The path soon introduces the battle screen. After the forest, inspect the mansion grounds for items rather than repeatedly trying the locked front door.
Controls
Exploration: D-pad moves; B searches, examines or picks up items; A uses the equipped item. SELECT opens inventory to choose equipment, and START opens the pause menu with save/load options. Battle: D-pad moves, A fires and B changes weapon. The separate battle screen does not use START or SELECT for the exploration menus.

Explore the grounds and mansion as Edward, examine sparkling objects and work out where each item belongs. Aline assists through radio conversations, while documents reveal the island’s secrets. Combat uses a different view and controls from exploration: line up shots and preserve ammunition for later encounters. The pause menu provides saving and loading between journeys through the dark rooms and forest paths.
