How to Play American Idol
Quick start
Select Play, choose Competition, then create your Idol and confirm with A. The first goal is the audition: press the displayed A/B notes as the circular cursor reaches them, hold long notes until their band ends, and hit paired icons together. Use Rehearsal first if timing the song circle is unfamiliar.
Controls
Menus: D-Pad Up/Down highlights, Left/Right changes choices, A selects, B cancels. Performance: press A or B when its icon reaches the cursor; hold through a long-note band, release at the end, and press A+B for a combo icon. START pauses and can skip judges/presenter.
