How to Play Animal Crossing: Wild World
Quick start
Choose a new resident and answer the questions during the taxi ride to set your name and town. Visit town hall, locate your house on the map, then follow Tom Nook’s introductory work errands. Once those are finished, sell fruit and look for tools in his shop to start collecting. Save by pressing START outdoors and confirming, or use the bed in your attic.
Controls
Use the D-pad to walk; hold B, L or R with a direction to run. A talks, opens doors, shakes trees or uses your held tool. B picks up nearby items and cancels. X opens the map; Y opens your pockets; L/R cycle pocket-screen tabs. Touch controls also work: touch nearby to walk or farther away to run, tap a person or object to interact, and tap yourself to use a held tool. START opens saving outdoors.

Life in this village follows the clock, with different creatures, visitors and activities appearing as days and seasons pass. You choose how to spend your time: chat with animal neighbours, fish, catch insects, dig for fossils or look for furnishings for your house. Selling finds brings in Bells for shopping and repaying Tom Nook’s home loan, while the museum offers a longer collecting project. Letters and custom designs give the town a personal touch. There is no sequence of battles to clear; the pleasure comes from building routines and noticing what has changed since the last visit.
