How to Play After Burner
Quick start
- Use the flight stick to guide the F-14 after takeoff.
- Fire the cannon at approaching enemies.
- Use missiles while keeping track of the remaining supply.
- Avoid incoming attacks and continue to the next resupply aircraft.
Controls
Flight stick: steer the F-14. Cannon control: fire the machine gun. Missile control: launch a heat-seeking missile from the available supply.
After Burner — About this game
After Burner puts the player in an F-14 launched from the carrier SEGA Enterprise. A flight stick steers through enemy formations while separate cannon and missile controls provide two ways to attack. The original arcade mission has a limited missile supply, replenished by a supporting aircraft after groups of stages. Steering clear of attacks remains necessary even while firing, so keeping an enemy ahead is only one part of surviving the flight. This version follows the original eighteen-stage mission.
