How to Play Akai Katana (2010/ 8/13 MASTER VER.)
Quick start
- Use Rapid Shot for movement and ordinary firing.
- Hold Focus when a concentrated option attack is useful.
- After collecting energy, use Phantom to transform.
- Return manually to the aircraft to collect orbiting gold, and use Bomb if survival requires it.
Controls
Move with the eight-way joystick. Focus/Shot gives ordinary shots when tapped and a slower focused attack when held. Rapid Shot continuously repeats the ordinary shot. Bomb spends a bomb to damage enemies and cancel bullets. Phantom changes form while energy is available. In the original arcade rules, Phantom defence repels threats; holding Focus makes it vulnerable, and manually ending the form collects the orbiting gold.

Akai Katana (2010/ 8/13 MASTER VER.) links its aircraft and Phantom forms through an energy reserve. Ordinary firing leaves the accompanying option mobile, while holding Focus slows the aircraft and changes the option’s attack. Collected energy enables Phantom mode, where the defensive state repels bullets but the focused attack makes the Phantom vulnerable. Enemies destroyed in that form provide orbiting gold, collected by returning manually to the aircraft before it disappears. Managing that return gives the player a scoring decision alongside the next dodge.
