How to Play Arch Rivals (rev 4.0 6/29/89)
Quick start
- Start a game and choose a player.
- Move around the court with the directional control.
- With possession, use Pass to move the ball to your teammate and Shoot to attempt a basket.
- On defence, use the corresponding Punch/Steal and Block actions to contest the ball.
Controls
Directional control: move your player. Pass/Punch/Steal is one context-sensitive button. Shoot/Block is the other context-sensitive button. Use the action appropriate to possession and your position on the court; these are the original arcade panel labels, without importing console A/B mappings.

Arch Rivals (rev 4.0 6/29/89) turns two-on-two basketball into a rough contest in which passing and shooting share the court with punches and steals. Choose from its distinctive players, work with your teammate and try to finish ahead on the scoreboard. Each control button changes its function with the situation: the passing input also handles punching or stealing, while the shooting input provides blocking on defence. Staying near an opponent can create a chance to regain possession, but moving the ball to a teammate also creates opportunities to score.
