Quick start
- Move Roche toward the first enemy and use Attack.
- Pause the swings to let the power gauge refill.
- Jump over a gap or low threat.
- Break a pillar for supplies and use Thunder when an arrowhead is available.
Controls
Move with the eight-way joystick. Attack swings the axe; its power gauge fills while Roche is not swinging. Jump leaps. Thunder attacks the screen and requires a stocked arrowhead. Break stone pillars to reveal supplies.

The Astyanax (EPROM version) makes the time between axe swings part of its combat. Roche’s power gauge refills while he is not attacking, allowing a stronger flaming blow after a pause. Fast weak strikes and slower charged ones therefore suit different openings. Destroyed stone pillars can supply health, a protective shield or arrowheads for the screen-wide thunder attack. Keeping an arrowhead in reserve gives the warrior an answer when the next group leaves too little space for another measured swing.
