Light, medium and heavy punches and kicks trade speed against strength, while the joystick provides approach, retreat, jumping, crouching and guard. Winning a match normally requires taking two rounds, with tied results leading to further deciding exchanges. The eight selectable fighters have their own directional special commands and throw options, so ordinary attack practice is a useful foundation before learning a more demanding sequence.
