How to Play Bubble Bobble (Japan, Ver 0.1)

Quick start

Start, move toward an enemy, and blow a bubble to capture it.
Touch the captured enemy’s bubble with your dragon’s body or spikes to burst it.
Jump between platforms and watch the direction that bubbles drift.
Clear every enemy to advance; try bursting nearby trapped enemies together for better rewards.

Controls

Left/right joystick: move.
Button 1: blow bubbles. Button 2: jump.
Burst trapped enemies by touching their bubbles from the side or with the dragon’s spikes.
Hold Jump while landing on an empty bubble to bounce from it.

Bubble Bobble (Japan, Ver 0.1) — About this game

Bub and Bob explore a cave made of compact, single-screen rooms, each arranged around a different set of platforms and enemies. Blowing a bubble can trap a monster, but trapping alone does not finish the job: you must reach the bubble and burst it before the enemy escapes. The bubbles drift with each room's currents, turning the layout into a small movement puzzle rather than a simple shooting range. Bursting several captured enemies together produces more valuable rewards, encouraging you to plan an attack instead of popping every bubble immediately. Empty bubbles can also become temporary footholds when you jump on them correctly. Special bubbles and collectible items introduce further ways to clear a difficult room. Defeating every enemy advances the journey, so success combines careful positioning, a timely jump, and understanding where your bubbles are heading.
