How to Play Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Plus, Hack)
Quick start
- Choose a class and learn movement and normal attacks.
- Open the inventory circle somewhere safe and check your items.
- With a spellcaster, switch pages to select a spell.
- Before tough enemies, check remaining uses and combine melee with items.
Controls
Move with the joystick. A attacks or picks up, B jumps, C opens the inventory circle and cycles the selection, and D uses the selected item or spell. Spellcasters press B while the circle is open to switch pages. C and D differ from the previous game. Shield guarding depends on class and equipment; the Thief and Magic User cannot use it.
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara (Plus, Hack) — About this game
The Thief and Magic User join the previous adventurers for a choice of six classes. Route choices shape the adventure, and using acquired weapons and items matters as much as collecting them. Select possessions from the circle around your character; spellcasters switch between item and spell pages. Class differences affect movement and combat, from the Thief’s double jump and stealing to the Magic User’s wide spell selection. Throwing items and rings matter even to classes without spells. Watch remaining uses and enemy positions rather than relying only on normal attacks.
