How to Play Galaga '88
Quick start
- Move Left/Right beneath the incoming aliens.
- Fire through their formation.
- If a fighter is captured, target the Boss Galaga carrying it during a dive.
- Rescue it without shooting the captive to increase the formation’s firepower.
Controls
Move Left/Right and use Fire to shoot. A captured fighter can be recovered by destroying its carrying Boss Galaga during a dive. Recovering a single forms a dual ship; recovering a captured dual forms a triple. Collect two special warp items to reach another dimension.
Galaga '88 — About this game
Galaga ’88 expands the captured-fighter gamble into a way to build a triple ship. Rescuing a captured single fighter creates the familiar dual craft, and rescuing a captured dual creates the larger triple formation. The extra firepower also presents a wider target during the next diving attack. Special enemies and obstacles supply items for dimensional travel, while the musical Challenge Rounds replace incoming danger with a chance to shoot down the dancing formations for a bonus.
