Quick start
- Learn the reach of punches and kicks against the first enemies.

Controls
The arcade uses an eight-way direction lever and two action buttons. Press both buttons together to block. The read reference establishes punching, kicking and jumping but does not unambiguously assign every individual button effect, so no additional numbering or keyboard layout is supplied.

Knuckle Joe (set 1) sends its brawler through successive groups of enemies toward opponents with their own fighting abilities. Punches, kicks and quick jumps provide the main means of handling the approach, with a two-button defensive action available when simply trading blows is unsafe. Bonus sequences change the activity to riding a motorcycle and shooting other drivers. Learn to control the space in front of Joe before advancing, then recognize the change of rules when the next sequence leaves ordinary hand-to-hand combat behind.
