How to Play Mat Mania
Quick start
- Move into striking range and use the punch or kick action.
- Change position to set up grapples and rope attacks.
- Weaken the opponent and look for a pinning opportunity.
- Defeat the five challengers, then continue defending the belt.
Controls
Eight-direction joystick: move and help set up wrestling manoeuvres. Two actions: punch and kick; their effects change with grapples, ropes and opponent position.
Mat Mania — About this game
Mat Mania sends one wrestler through five challengers before awarding the championship belt. Punches and kicks provide the basic exchanges, while position near an opponent, the ropes or a corner changes the moves available. Throws and aerial attacks offer ways to turn a weakened opponent into a chance for a pin. Winning the championship does not end the event: the previous opponents return in a changing order for title defences. Each fight therefore calls for both controlling the ring and finishing the opponent before the next challenger.
