Minesweeper — About this game
Minesweeper is a contest between boats leaving continuous trails of mines. Every turn follows the grid, and the growing trails gradually divide the open water into smaller spaces. The objective is to survive longer than the opposing boat by keeping a clear route while cutting off its escape. Reversing immediately runs back into the mines just laid, so planning a turn before reaching a boundary is essential. The original two-player contest and its four-player cabinet version share this struggle over the remaining open space.
