How to Play Mortal Kombat (Nifty Kombo, hack)
Quick start
- Locate high and low punches and kicks and the separate Block control.
- Compare normal attacks while moving, jumping and crouching.
- Find a short counterattack after blocking and practice one fighter’s specials.
- For finishing moves, follow the post-bout prompt and that fighter’s instructions.
Controls
Use directions to move, jump and crouch. Attack with High Punch, High Kick, Low Punch and Low Kick, and guard with the separate Block control. High Punch while crouching performs an uppercut; Low Punch at close range attempts a throw. Special moves use each fighter’s own directional and action commands.
Mortal Kombat (Nifty Kombo, hack) — About this game
Liu Kang, Sonya, Scorpion and Sub-Zero bring different techniques to the first Mortal Kombat. Attacks use high and low punches and kicks, while defense has its own control. Moving backward alone does not guard: learn to press Block in response to an incoming attack. Close-range throws and crouching uppercuts create different opportunities from special moves using directions and attacks at longer range. Start with one fighter’s basic attacks and specials and use them when the opponent leaves an opening. Finishing moves belong to the period after the bout is decided; keep their commands separate from ordinary combat techniques.
