Mortal Kombat (rev 4.0 09/28/92) — About this game
Mortal Kombat (rev 4.0 09/28/92) separates defence from retreat with its own Block button. High and low punches and kicks change their effect with range and directional input, so a familiar button can become a sweep or uppercut in another position. Blocking limits movement lost to an attack, but does not erase all damage, making it a way to prepare a response rather than remain indefinitely safe. Two won rounds take the match, while the single-player route progresses toward stronger tournament opponents. Learn the five-action layout and a dependable close-range response before attempting a character’s finishing sequence.
