How to Play Pairs (V1, 09/07/94)
Quick start
- Remember the cards shown face up at the beginning.
- Select one card, then another with the same value.
- Reuse known locations after a mismatch.
- When selecting a Joker, choose the next value for its wider clearing effect.
Controls
Use the directional controls to move the card cursor. Press Button 1 to reveal or select a card; select a second card with the same value to remove the pair. After a Joker, use the same selection flow to choose the value for the wider clear.

Pairs (V1, 09/07/94) turns a covered picture into a memory problem played on a grid of cards. Selecting two matching values removes them and reveals the area beneath, while a mismatch turns them face down again and costs a heart. Correct matches restore a chance and add time, so remembering an earlier failed choice can protect both resources. A Joker changes the next selection into a wider clear by removing the remaining cards of that value.
