How to Play Puyo Puyo (Japan, Rev A)

Quick start

Move a falling pair toward matching colours.
Rotate it clockwise to fit the planned stack.
Connect four of one colour to start a clear.
Arrange the next colours so the falling Puyos trigger another match.

Controls

Left/Right moves the falling pair; Down lowers it faster. The arcade rotation action turns the pair clockwise. Connect four matching Puyos and use falling pieces to build chains. This original ruleset has no garbage-offset counter.

Puyo Puyo (Japan, Rev A) — About this game

The original arcade Puyo Puyo pits falling pairs against an opponent’s growing field. Four connected Puyos of the same colour disappear, letting those above fall into another possible match. Preparing that second or third clear creates a chain and sends a larger nuisance attack to the other side. This version has no garbage offsetting, so a chain cannot cancel an incoming attack through the countering system found in later entries.
