How to Play The Return of Ishtar
Quick start
- Move Ki with the left control and Gil with the right.
- Open the spell menu and choose a useful spell.
- Cast it while keeping Ki clear of enemies.
- Bring Gil through the same route and keep his health above zero.
Controls
Left joystick: move Ki or choose magic. A: cast the selected spell. B: open the magic-selection menu. Right joystick: move Gil. The screen follows Ki; keep Gil nearby. Ki touching an enemy or Gil losing all health ends the attempt.
The Return of Ishtar — About this game
The Return of Ishtar coordinates Ki’s magic with Gil’s sword as the pair escape the tower. Ki’s position controls the scrolling view, so letting Gil move too far away leaves him unable to continue through the screen. Gil attacks nearby enemies with his drawn sword but loses health in the contact, while an enemy touching Ki ends the attempt. Selecting a useful spell and keeping the two characters together therefore matters more than moving each toward a different exit. Passwords preserve a way to resume later progress.
