How to Play Samurai Shodown / Samurai Spirits (NGH-045)

Quick start

Learn the weak and medium slashes.
Press both slash buttons for the heavy strike.
Test the weapon’s reach before committing.
Avoid a dropped bomb or collect safe restorative food.

Controls

A is Weak Slash, B Medium Slash, C Weak Kick and D Medium Kick. A+B performs Strong Slash; C+D Strong Kick. Haohmaru’s Senpuu Retsu Zan is Down, Down-Forward, Forward + Slash, and Kogetsu Zan is Forward, Down, Down-Forward + Slash. Reverse horizontal directions when facing left.

Samurai Shodown builds its duels around the reach and damage of distinct weapons. The attack buttons provide weak and medium slashes or kicks, with paired presses producing the strongest versions. Well-timed heavy hits matter more than extended combinations, while the delivery man’s bombs or restorative food can change a close round. The roster’s personal journeys eventually lead to Amakusa’s threat.
