How to Play Street Fighter III: New Generation (Asia 970204)
Quick start
- Choose a fighter and one Super Art.
- Learn the three Punch and Kick strengths.
- Practise tapping Forward just before a high attack lands.
- Use Down for the corresponding low parry.
Controls
Use Light, Medium and Heavy Punch or Kick. Double-tap Forward to dash or Back to retreat. Tap Forward at the impact of a high attack, or Down for a low attack, to parry. Ryu’s Hadouken is Down, Down-Forward, Forward + Punch; Shoryuken is Forward, Down, Down-Forward + Punch. Reverse horizontal directions when facing left.

Street Fighter III: New Generation (Asia 970204) adds precisely timed parries to its one-on-one fighting. Tapping toward a high attack or Down against a low one deflects the hit without normal guard damage and creates a counterattack opening. Each fighter chooses one of three Super Arts before the bout, changing the available super and its gauge capacity. Dashes, high jumps and leap attacks give the new roster additional ways to alter distance and pressure.
