Quick start

Choose a returning fighter or one of the four newcomers.
Compare the light, medium and heavy attack ranges.
Guard by holding away from the opponent.
Practise a short confirmed combination before adding a special.

Controls

The six attacks are light, medium and heavy Punch and Kick. Hold away to guard. For Ryu facing right, Down, Down-Forward, Forward+Punch performs Hadouken; Forward, Down, Down-Forward+Punch performs Shoryuken.

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers (USA 930911) expands the roster with Cammy, Fei Long, Dee Jay and T. Hawk while revising the returning fighters’ normal and special techniques. Three punch and three kick strengths still provide the ordinary attack choices. The game records combinations, first strikes, reversals and recoveries for bonus scoring, and its pace returns to the earlier Champion Edition level. Learn the new fighter’s safe normal before attempting a special, then watch the recorded combination count for feedback on whether the attacks connected as a chain.
