Quick start

Controls
Left/Right moves, Up jumps and Down crouches. Overhand swings the sword downward; Underhand slashes upward. Different enemies are vulnerable to different sword approaches.

Samurai Nihon-Ichi (rev 1) distinguishes an overhand sword cut from an upward slash, making the enemy’s approach matter to the chosen attack. The samurai advances through other swordsmen, knife-throwing birds and tigers before meeting a boss. Constant travel at the same speed lets the birds lead their knives toward him, so changing pace and preparing a jump can be safer than advancing steadily. Learn the two cuts against the opening foes, then either strike an arriving bird promptly or duck beneath its dart. Faster boss victories receive a larger bonus.
