How to Play Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers' Revenge (Japan 950316)

Quick start

Learn the selected monster’s ordinary attacks and dash.
Build a Special Stock through the fight.
Use a matching two-button special input for an ES move.
Time a light-to-strong chain without relying on Auto Guard shortcuts.

Controls

The six attacks are Light, Medium and Heavy Punch and Light, Medium and Heavy Kick. Double-tap forward or backward to dash. With a Special Stock, enter a special move using two buttons of its punch or kick type to perform an ES move; EX techniques have their own commands and stock costs. Grounded chain attacks link from lighter to stronger attacks, with each hit weaker than its isolated version. Left/right during knockdown moves the wakeup position. Automatic chains require the corresponding Auto Guard mode.

Night Warriors turns its supernatural duels into choices about stored special power. An ES technique spends stock to strengthen a special move, while EX attacks use their own commands. Connected ordinary strikes can chain toward stronger attacks, but those chain hits are weaker than using each strike alone. A wakeup slide changes the position after a knockdown, making the next exchange less predictable. Learn a safe light strike before building a longer sequence, then decide whether the next stock is better spent on an ES opening or retained for a different technique.
