Il lancio permette variazioni di velocità, curve e tentativi di pickoff, mentre la presa dei difensori avviene automaticamente. Dopo la raccolta della palla il giocatore decide invece la base verso cui rilanciare. La difesa richiede quindi di leggere la posizione dei corridori e preparare la scelta prima che la palla sia già tornata in gioco.
