How to Play VS. Super Mario Bros
Quick start
- Start and move left or right through the stage.
- Use Jump to clear enemies and gaps.
- Hold Run while moving, then combine it with Jump for wider crossings.
- Use the same action to shoot when Mario has fireball ability.
Controls
Left/Right: move. Jump: jump. Run/Fire: hold while moving to run; use it to shoot fireballs when Mario has that ability. Down: crouch or enter an accessible pipe. These are functional actions, without assuming Nintendo Switch, NES controller or emulator key labels.

VS. Super Mario Bros. brings Mario’s scrolling platform adventure to the arcade with altered stages and more demanding placements of platforms and power-ups. Move through the Mushroom Kingdom, jump past hazards and combine running with jumps to cross wider gaps. The route rewards attention to where you land as well as forward progress. Power-ups provide additional abilities, including fireballs when Mario has the appropriate form, while the arcade version’s settings can change life and timer conditions.
