How to Play Zig Zag (bootleg Dig Dug conversion on Galaxian hardware, set 1)

Quick start

  1. Dig a route that leaves room to retreat.
  2. Close in only when an enemy can be defeated safely.
  3. Undermine a rock to trap a pursuing group.
  4. Use the temporary pickaxe’s faster digging without losing the escape route.

Controls

Use the directional controls to dig and move through the tunnels. This version has no pump attack: defeat enemies by closing in or by undermining rocks so they fall onto pursuers.

Zig Zag (bootleg Dig Dug conversion on Galaxian hardware, set 1) — About this game

This Zig Zag edition reworks the digging chase of Dig Dug on Moon Cresta-derived hardware. The original pump is removed, so defeating an enemy requires closing in rather than using the familiar inflation attack. Rocks can still be undermined and dropped onto pursuers, while a temporary pickaxe improves digging speed. Vegetable bonus items are absent. These changes make the route through a tunnel a different tactical decision: a direct approach to an enemy and a planned falling-rock trap offer different levels of exposure. This account applies to the two catalogued Galaxian-driver sets, keeping them separate from the other Zig Zag variant on Dig Dug hardware.
