How to Play Alpha Mission
Quick start
Move near the lower center and fire B at aircraft while tapping A over pyramids and ground turrets. Collect S, L and M marks to strengthen speed, laser and missile performance, but watch for reversed or harmful marks. Pick up red E marks before relying on armor. Press Select when the screen is clear, move SYD over the armor you want and press Select again to equip it; choosing the blank space returns without armor. Shield is a forgiving survival choice, while wide-fire weapons clear crowds. Switch back to the normal craft before energy reaches zero so reserves remain for the area boss.
Controls
D-Pad: steer SYD. B: fire the laser at airborne enemies. A: launch missiles at ground targets. Select: open the acquired weapon/armor list; move onto an option and press Select again to equip it. Start: pause and resume. Laser and missile can be fired together, while armor consumes energy continuously, when hit, or per shot depending on its type.
Alpha Mission — About this game
Alpha Mission is SNK's vertically scrolling NES shooter built around two firing planes and an unusually deep armor system. SYD uses lasers against airborne enemies and missiles against ground installations, especially pyramids that conceal marks and equipment. Speed, laser and missile marks improve the craft, while eight armor types add shields or powerful weapons at an ongoing energy cost. Pressing Select pauses the action for equipment choice, so success depends on collecting the right armor, entering the selection screen at a safe moment, and preserving energy for bosses instead of leaving a special system active continuously.
