How to Play Aussie Rules Footy
Quick start
Choose Kick to Kick first to learn how the active player changes when the ball enters a teammate's area. Move with the D-pad, use A for a short handball and B for a longer kick. In a match, kick towards the two tall centre posts for six points; an outer gap is only one. Without the ball, get under its path and press A to jump for the mark. Avoid kicking blindly into a crowd: handball to a nearby teammate, create space, then kick long towards goal.
Controls
Menus: Select scrolls down, while A or Start confirms the highlighted option; B is unused. During play the D-pad moves the controlled footballer. With possession, A handballs and B kicks. Without possession, A jumps to contest or mark the ball and B is unused. Start pauses the match; Select has no in-match function. The same straightforward layout applies across Single Play, Season and Kick to Kick.
Aussie Rules Footy — About this game
Aussie Rules Footy is Beam Software's NES interpretation of Australian football, released specifically for the Australian market. Players move as a team around an oval, handball or kick while in possession, contest the ball in the air, and aim between four posts. A goal through the two tall central posts earns six points, while a behind through the outer gaps earns one. Single Play provides a quick match, Season tracks a campaign, and Kick to Kick offers a simpler place to learn possession and disposal without a full fixture.
