How to Play Avatar: The Last Airbender
Quick start
Enter the village and speak to Master Wei about the missing person. Leave through the south exit, turn left at the crossroads and watch the event, then return to Wei. Go out again and take the right-hand route to find Katara and Sokka. In the early battles, use Y for a short attack combo, back away from danger and save before heading north toward the first machine boss.
Controls
DS: D-pad moves. In battle Y is the basic attack, B guards, X uses the selected special attack and A uses special defence. Special techniques use chi, which recovers over time. Touch input handles menus and specific minigames; follow their individual instructions. This game's defensive actions differ from the sequel's jump controls.
Avatar: The Last Airbender — About this game
The first Avatar game on DS mixes village exploration with separate real-time battle areas. Aang's companions join as the story develops, eventually bringing Sokka, Katara and Haru's different fighting styles to the party. Basic attacks and defence are available alongside chi-powered special techniques, so watching the recovering chi gauge matters during a difficult fight. Outside combat, conversations, small tasks and touch-screen minigames help uncover the machine threat. The opening sends Aang into the northern water village to investigate a missing person before the situation becomes a larger rescue mission. New abilities arrive through progression rather than all being available at the outset.
