How to Play B-17: Fortress in the Sky
Quick start
Choose New Game, select an empty Mission Folder and use Novice for the first flight. Read the briefing and press A to start. Takeoff is automatic. During fighter attacks, use L/R to select a gunner, aim with the D-pad and fire with A. When the bombing run begins, follow the yellow path and release bombs slightly before the sight crosses the target.
Controls
DS gunner view: D-pad aims, A fires, L/R changes stations; you can also touch crew icons. During flak, left/right banks the aircraft. On a bomb run, left/right moves the bombsight, up/down changes altitude and A drops bombs. START pauses. Touch the map to inspect navigation; B closes it.

B-17: Fortress in the Sky places the DS player at several stations aboard a bomber rather than leaving every task to one cockpit view. During fighter attacks, switch gunner positions to cover the direction of danger. Flak encounters ask you to bank away from explosions, while the bombing run changes the controls again: keep the aircraft on the marked path and align the bombsight with the target. Successful missions require sufficient damage to the primary objective. Novice mode supplies extra reserve aircraft and helps track approaching fighters when you stop aiming and firing, making it a useful place to learn the separate phases.
