How to Play Back to the Future
Quick start
On street stages, stay near the lower-middle of the road so you can react to incoming lanes. Move with the D-pad, press B to jump over small hazards, and collect as many clocks as possible. Once the bowling-ball pickup appears, use A to clear enemies ahead. In the café, move vertically, throw shakes with A and save B's Super Shake for a crowded screen. Each event has different rules, so treat the brief instruction screen as part of the stage rather than assuming the street controls still apply.
Controls
Street stages: D-pad moves Marty in four directions, B jumps, and A throws bowling balls only after the pickup; Start pauses and Select is unused. Café: up/down moves behind the counter, A throws a milkshake and B uses a limited Super Shake. The Lorraine and guitar events are controlled mainly with up/down. In the final drive, up accelerates the DeLorean, left/right steers, and Start pauses; reach 88 mph at the wire.
Back to the Future — About this game
Back to the Future for NES follows Marty McFly through a heavily arcade-focused version of the first film. Most stages automatically scroll along Hill Valley streets, where Marty dodges bullies, bees, benches, drains and other hazards while collecting alarm clocks to keep the family photograph from fading. Four event stages break up the run with café milkshakes, avoiding Lorraine, a guitar performance, and the final DeLorean drive. Losing too much time or allowing the photo to disappear costs a life, so clean movement and clock collection matter together.
