How to Play Backyard Baseball '09
Quick start
Choose a quick game and follow the first pitching or batting display. When pitching, select a pitch and its target; at bat, watch a delivery before attempting an upward stroke. After contact, check the runners and occupied bases before using the base commands.
Controls
Pitch by tapping the intended location; bat with an upward stylus stroke timed to the ball. When fielding, tap the base that should receive the throw. For running, use the onscreen base commands to direct progress and check the runner display before committing to another base. The DS touch scheme handles these roles separately.
Backyard Baseball '09 — About this game
Backyard Baseball '09 brings the Backyard children and young versions of professional players onto the diamond. The Nintendo DS edition uses both screens to connect the field with touch-based decisions: choose where a pitch goes, time the upward batting stroke and send a fielder's throw toward a base. Watching where the ball lands matters as much as making contact, because runners and fielders now compete for the next safe base. A quick game is a useful place to learn these changes of role before building a team for a season.
