How to Play Backyard Baseball '10

Quick start

Begin with Home Run Derby to practise contact, or choose a match and select your team. Try the button pitching/batting scheme first, then compare the stylus alternative. After a hit, check the runner and base displays instead of immediately repeating the batting input.

Controls

For DS pitching and batting, use the D-pad with B, or use the touch scheme's taps and stylus swings. Once the ball is in play, follow the displayed running and fielding commands, using the base indicators to decide whether to advance a runner or make a defensive play. These situations use different instructions from the batting display.

Backyard Baseball '10 — About this game

Backyard Baseball '10 combines child versions of professional players with backyard diamonds and exaggerated baseball power-ups. The DS edition offers a choice between directional-pad and B-button input or touch-based pitching and batting, so you can settle on a rhythm before a match gets busy. Home Run Derby focuses attention on making contact, while fielding practice shifts the goal to handling a ball in play. During a game, watch the count, runners and occupied bases as well as the next pitch; an unusually powerful swing still needs a useful moment.
