How to Play Backyard Basketball
Quick start
Start with Play Now for a ready-made match. In Options, choose Touch Gameplay ON for stylus input or OFF for button controls. Practise a short pass, then hold a shot and release at the jump's peak before attempting a contested basket.
Controls
With Touch Gameplay OFF, move with the D-pad; hold A and release to shoot, tap A to fake, and press B to pass. On defence, B changes player, A jumps or blocks, and Y steals; on offence Y spins. L or R gives turbo and START pauses. With touch controls, drag to move, tap a teammate to pass and hold then release the shot meter to shoot.
Backyard Basketball — About this game
Kid-sized NBA players join the Backyard cast for basketball on neighbourhood courts. The DS game separates attacking skills such as passing and spinning from defensive blocks and steals, so each change of possession asks you to rethink your next move. A shot works best when released at the top of the jump or with a full meter. Play Now gets a match moving quickly, Pick-Up lets you assemble the contest, and Season Play builds toward a championship with players and courts to unlock.
