How to Play Backyard Hockey
Quick start
Choose Play Now for a prepared game. In Options, turn Touch Gameplay OFF to learn the button layout or ON for the stylus. Make a short pass before shooting; in touch mode, open the Shot grid and pick a part of the goal to aim the shot.
Controls
With touch controls OFF, move with the D-pad. Hold A, aim with the D-pad and release A to shoot; B plus a direction passes. On defence, B selects the player nearest the puck and A pokes or steals. Hold R for turbo; START pauses. With touch controls ON, drag to skate, tap a teammate to pass and tap Shot followed by a goal-grid area to shoot.
Backyard Hockey — About this game
Backyard Hockey brings NHL players in child form together with the Backyard cast on imaginative rinks. In the DS version, a charged shot rewards time and aim, while passing helps move the puck away from a crowded lane. Losing possession changes the task to switching players, chasing the carrier and poking the puck loose. Play Now assembles a quick match, Pick-Up lets you set up the teams and rink, and Season follows a championship route. Penalty Shootout and Air Hockey offer separate smaller challenges.
