How to Play Band Hero
Quick start
For a first session, choose drum play, a song and Beginner difficulty. Practice left, down, B and A as the colored notes reach the line. Move on to simultaneous notes once individual hits feel comfortable. Guitar and bass on original hardware need the Guitar Grip; vocals use the DS microphone.
Controls
Guitar and bass: hold the matching Guitar Grip fret buttons and strum on the touch screen with the stylus. The Grip requires the GBA expansion slot. Drums: directional pad left is green, down is red, B is yellow and A is blue. Press the matching input as its note reaches the line. The optional Drum Grip is a silicone cover for DS Lite buttons. Vocals use the built-in microphone to judge pitch.
Band Hero — About this game
Band Hero on DS offers separate guitar, bass, drum and vocal performances across a pop-focused song list. Songs are available from the start, with achievements and rewards providing goals beyond simply reaching the next track. Guitar and bass use the Guitar Grip and touch-screen strumming; drums turn the handheld's buttons into four colored lanes. The optional silicone Drum Grip fits the DS Lite and makes those buttons feel like pads, but it is not an electronic drum controller. Vocals use the built-in microphone to judge pitch. Each part asks for a different kind of timing, so learning one instrument before switching makes the charts easier to read.
