How to Play Baseball Stars II
Quick start
Play an exhibition to learn the base-direction layout, then begin a season with a balanced roster. At bat, move within the box and tap A to swing; hold Down and A to bunt. Advance with B plus the destination base and return with A plus the base. In the field, keep a fast defender in centre, move under fly balls and use B plus Left or Right to dive only when the ball will pass an upright fielder.
Controls
D-Pad moves the batter or fielder and identifies bases: Right first, Up second, Left third, Down home. A swings; Down+A bunts. B plus a base direction advances or steals, while A plus a base direction returns. In the field, direction+A throws to a base; Left/Right+B dives for a ground ball, B jumps for an airborne catch, and Up+A at the wall attempts a home-run catch. START pauses.
Baseball Stars II — About this game
Baseball Stars II on NES follows the original's blend of direct baseball controls and long-term team improvement. Batters can reposition, swing or bunt; runners advance, return and steal by pairing a base direction with A or B; pitchers vary delivery; and fielders throw to any base, dive for grounders, jump for fly balls or attempt a difficult catch at the wall. Team and player attributes shape those actions, so speed affects steals and range while pitching and hitting ratings change consistency. The sequel is designed for repeated seasons and roster development rather than a single arcade match, rewarding a strong centre-field defender, sensible investments and disciplined base running.
