How to Play Batman Returns
Quick start
Against ordinary enemies, approach with a jump kick, then finish with punches and guard with down+B when boxed in. Save the A+B spin for emergencies because it consumes one life-bar unit. Press Select to put the Batarang or grappling hook in the item slot, then use it with up+B. During Batmobile play, A launches discs and B fires machine guns. Record every password shown after a stage so a later session can continue there.
Controls
D-pad moves Batman. A jumps; B punches. Down+A performs a slide kick, down+B guards, and B while airborne makes a jump kick. A+B triggers a spin attack at the cost of one health unit. Select changes the utility item; up+B uses the chosen Batarang or grappling hook. Start pauses. In the Batmobile, A fires discs and B fires machine guns.
Batman Returns — About this game
Konami's NES Batman Returns is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up based on the 1992 film. Batman battles the Red Triangle Circus Gang across six stages, faces Catwoman and ultimately confronts the Penguin. Most sections use punches, jump kicks, guards, slides and a health-costing spin attack, while Batarangs and the grappling hook occupy a selectable utility slot. Vehicle interludes place him in the Batmobile and Batskiboat, changing the rhythm from close combat to shooting. Passwords allow progress to resume between stages.
