How to Play Beauty and the Beast

Quick start

Move slowly through the opening screens and test each platform edge before making a full jump. Use a normal punch when an enemy approaches at ground level and the aerial punch only when the landing area is clear. The objective is usually the exit door, so learn hazard timing and preserve room to land rather than fighting every enemy immediately.

Controls

The D-pad moves the Beast. A jumps, B punches, and pressing B after jumping performs an aerial punch. Start pauses the game. Select has no assigned gameplay function in the cited NES guide.

Beauty and the Beast — About this game

Disney's Beauty and the Beast is a side-scrolling NES platform game starring the Beast. Each stage asks you to cross ledges, avoid traps and hostile creatures, and reach the door at the far end. The Beast can jump, punch, and combine the two into an aerial attack, but his large sprite and committed movement make careful positioning more useful than rushing. The European release turns scenes inspired by the animated film into a compact, challenging action game.
