How to Play Burai Fighter
Quick start
Choose New Game and begin on Eagle. Practice aiming toward a turret, holding B, then moving away while the weapon keeps firing toward it. Release B before turning to a new target. Collect matching weapon letters and take speed increases only while movement remains comfortable. Watch where the scrolling will push you; do not chase an item into a dead end. Use a charged cobalt bomb with A when regular enemies crowd you. At overhead stages, remember the base location shown by radar.
Controls
D-pad: move in eight directions. B: fire; hold to continue firing and lock your aim, release and face another direction to retarget. A: cobalt bomb when charged. Start: begin or pause/resume. Select or D-pad: choose New Game/Password on the title screen. During password entry, A inputs and B deletes. Select has no normal in-stage function.
Burai Fighter — About this game
This entry covers Taito's Japanese Famicom release, with its original manual used to verify common mechanics. Burai Fighter puts an airborne fighter inside a shifting maze of enemy installations. Holding B preserves the firing direction while you dodge elsewhere; releasing it lets you aim again. Most stages use a side view, but stages three and six change to overhead base hunting with a radar briefing. Laser, ring, and missile pickups strengthen separate weapon stocks, while cobalt energy powers an emergency screen-clearing attack that does not damage bosses. Excessive speed upgrades can make narrow passages harder to manage. Three starting difficulty choices and password continuation make learning the routes practical without removing the challenge of positioning and aimed fire.
