How to Play Chameleon: To Dye For!
Quick start
Begin a solo match and locate your starting territory at the bottom of the board. Look at its neighbouring colours, then choose an available matching colour from the colour controls. Your whole territory changes and connected tiles join it. Examine the new boundary before the next turn; aim for a useful route through the board rather than only the nearest small group.
Controls
Use the touch-screen colour selection to choose an available colour for your turn. This recolours the whole owned area and captures matching adjacent tiles; selecting a board tile is not a command to paint it individually. Watch unavailable recent colours and the displayed power options. Use each mode’s stated goal when deciding the next move.
Chameleon: To Dye For! — About this game
Chameleon: To Dye For! makes each turn a choice about the shape of your territory. Selecting a colour changes every hexagon you own and absorbs adjacent unclaimed hexagons of that colour. A move that gains only a few tiles now can open a larger connection next turn, so study the boundary rather than just the biggest visible patch. The opponent expands from the other end of the field, and the recently chosen colours restrict your next options. Star tiles supply special-power uses that can change the contest. In a normal match, the race is to control half the board. You are selecting a colour for your whole connected area, rather than painting individual neighbouring tiles one at a time.
