How to Play Chessmaster
Quick start
Start a game and choose your side and opponent settings. Select a pawn or knight, make a legal opening move and inspect the reply. Before each later move, check king safety and unprotected pieces.
Controls
Use the D-pad to move the board cursor and select menu options. A selects a piece and confirms its destination; B cancels or returns where permitted. Use the displayed game menu for settings and available position commands.
Chessmaster — About this game
Before moving, check whether your king is attacked and whether the chosen piece is protected. In the opening, bring pieces into play instead of moving the same one repeatedly. After the opponent's turn, look for the changed line of attack. A short game reviewed carefully teaches more than a series of hurried moves that leave the queen or king exposed.
