How to Play Children of Mana
Quick start
Choose New Game, select a character and colour, then enter a name. Speak to Tess and take her item to Moti to advance the introduction. Before leaving for Mana Tower, open the menu and fit the first gem into the Gem Frame. Try Moti's weapon practice and check your recovery item assignment.
Controls
Move with the D-pad; A and X use the weapons assigned to them. Open the R command ring to assign a weapon to A/X, or the L ring to assign a recovery item to Y. Y uses that item. Hold and release B to summon your spirit. START opens the village menu or pauses a dungeon; SELECT unleashes Fury when its gauge is full.

Children of Mana builds its DS adventure around dungeon action and preparation in Mana Village. Two weapon assignments let you combine different reaches and effects, while gems fitted into a frame add another layer of character customisation. A companion spirit provides magic, but its MP cost makes timing important. Dungeon floors contain enemies, traps and the gleamdrop needed to reach the next section. Back in the village, equipment, gem work and new quests turn each return into a chance to adjust your approach rather than simply repeat the previous loadout.
